Before wearing footwear for the first time, apply a quality repellent spray such as Burleigh Water Repellent. Make sure the spray is not oil based. Spray the footwear, wait 15 minutes, then re-apply. Repeat 2-3 times.
Clean the exterior of your sheepskin footwear regularly with a soft, clean, dry brush or sponge. This will remove any surface debris such as dust or dirt which can stain over time if the footwear gets wet. A few times a season, do a light exterior brushing then re-apply the water and stain repellent using the same method as mentioned in Step I.
If your sheepskin footwear needs a deeper cleaning, dilute 1-2 tablespoons of baby shampoo or UGG® Cleaner into a sink or basin filled with clean, room-temperature water. Immerse the shoe completely.
Use a soft, clean sponge to lightly scrub the entire footwear surface with even pressure, keeping the footwear fully submerged in the soapy water.
Massage the sheepskin footwear interior, like you would when washing hair, using plenty of diluted soapy water. Use clean water to thoroughly rinse the footwear interior and exterior of all soap and debris. Repeat this process with the other footwear mate.
Gently blot the footwear exterior using a cotton towel to absorb as much water as possible without pulling on the leather. Wet leather stretches easily, so take care not to use excess pressure. Repeat this same blotting process for the interior. Place the shoes in an area with moving air from an open window or fan. Keep the footwear away from direct heat or sun while drying.
After the shoes are dry, re-apply 2-3 treatments of the Burleigh Spray or comparable water and stain repellent. If the shoe is a smooth leather, apply a light conditioner to replenish the oils that have been washed out.
